The H wagons have a long history with the VR, the first versions being constructed in the 1850's.
This version represents a batch delivered around the turn of the century with a Gable roof.. The H's were a general purpose freight van and hundreds were built over the years. In later life they were used as departmental wagons, quite often as loco vans in regional depot.
